The Sound Menu is used to indicate system volume status, as well as providing controls for changing the volume. It also allows integration with music player applications to display current playing track metadata, playlists, and playback controls.

Date/Time Indicator
The Datetime Indicator displays the current time (and optionally date) in the Menu Bar. Clicking the indicator will display a calendar, list of upcoming events, and a list of times in various user-defined timezones.

Session Indicator
The Session Indicator adds two menus to the Menu Bar. The User menu shows the current user’s name in the Menu bar, and provide a list of users for fast user switching, the option to start a Guest session and access to user account management. The Device menu will inform the user when a restart is require, when updated are available, and provides easy access to settings and log-out/shutdown options.

Applications Lens
The Applications Lens will display apps with a .desktop file installed in /usr/share/applications/, as well as applications available to install from the Ubuntu Software Center. It also provides a list of filters that allow the user to search for applications by category or user rating.
